Three tee sets, 1,579 yards apart, playing the same eighteen holes to the same par. The shortest hole on the property is 106 yards and the longest is 572, and every player on the course is asked the same question in a different accent. The tempo is the part that does not change.

THE CARD 6,828 → 5,249

Championship down to Forward. Each total re-sums exactly from its own eighteen holes — nothing on this page is typed in twice.

THE CONSTANT Par 72, all three

Out 36, in 36, and an identical par on every hole from every tee. What changes is the club, not the shape of the round.

THE SHORT ONE 106 yards

The 7th is the shortest hole from all three sets — the card's fingerprint. The longest one moves: the 14th from the back two tees, the 18th from the Forward.

COURSE ANTHEM

Two masters, both live.

Every course in the 248 library gets a walk-up song engineered on the same 3:1 grid at 112 BPM. Pebble Beach has two in the player below — a bagpipe cut and a second remake — with the full library behind them.

THE 24/8 TEMPO SYSTEM

Rhythm is structure.

112 BPM

ONE BEAT = 0.536 S · 1½ BEATS BACK · ½ BEAT DOWN

2.1The ratio is real.

Frame-by-frame video of tour professionals shows elite swings share an elapsed-time signature: the backswing takes roughly three times as long as the downswing. Measured on 30fps video, one of the four canonical tour tempos is 24 frames back, 8 frames down.

John Novosel, Tour Tempo (Doubleday, 2004). A Yale physics study (Grober & Cholewicki, 2006 — an arXiv preprint, not peer-reviewed) measured ratios of roughly 2.5–3.5 with club sensors, averaging near 3:1.

2.2The tee changes the club, not the clock.

1,579 yards separate the Championship card from the Forward card, and the par is identical on all eighteen holes. Two players on the same hole from different tees are hitting different clubs into the same green, against the same par. The ratio their swings run at is the one variable they can both fix before they arrive.

The yardages and pars are the project database's own record for this course. The parallel to the tempo grid is ours — a description of why the system is built this way, not a research finding.

2.3The grid.

At 112 BPM, one beat lasts 0.536 seconds. A 24/8 swing sits on that grid almost exactly: 1½ beats back, ½ beat down. Every track in the library is cut to it, so the pocket of the song is the pocket of the swing.

Arithmetic, not a lab result — 24 frames ÷ 30fps = 0.80 s ≈ 1½ beats at 112 BPM. The exact tempo where 24/8 lands on two beats is 112.5; we use the rounder number.

  • 3.1

    Pre-round priming

Arrive on the grid rather than finding it on the 4th tee.

  • 3.2

    Picking your tee

1,579 yards of choice. Make it about distance, not about rhythm.

  • 3.3

The shortest club in the bag

A 106-yard hole punishes a swing that speeds up. Nothing about it is easy except the number.

  • 3.4

    Back-to-back par 3s

The card puts the 12th and the 17th a long way apart. Same tempo at both.

  • 3.5

    The long one

572 yards from the Championship. Three swings at one ratio — and from the Forward tees it isn't even the longest hole.

  • 3.6

    Practice & preparation

Range work at 112 BPM: 1½ beats back, ½ beat down, every ball.

THE CARD

Eighteen holes, three ways.

Every hole drawn to scale against its yardage, with all three tee sets stacked so the gap between them is visible hole by hole rather than as a single number at the bottom of a card. Par is printed under each hole because it is the thing that never moves. The drawing re-sums each tee set at load and prints an error in place of the chart if any total, any par, or the position of the shortest and longest holes stops matching the database.

4.1 — A FOURTH TEE SET IS MISSING FROM THIS CHART ON PURPOSE

The Member card does not agree with the course

A fourth set — Member (White), 6,195 yards — is in the database and is not drawn here. Its pars sum to 71, and it disagrees with all three other cards on the par of holes 3, 6, 9, 13 and 16. At a real golf course par does not move between tee sets, so one of the four is describing something else.

It is flagged data_validated: true all the same, because that check tests hole count, yardage variance and par within ±1 — and 71 passes a ±1 test against 72. Nothing in it compares a course's tee sets against each other, which is the check that exposes this row in a single line.

4.2 — WHY THAT MATTERS BEYOND ONE ROW

It had already reached the writing

The project's deep-research record for this course was generated from that same Member card. Its hole-by-hole section describes the 3rd as a par 3, the 9th and 13th as par 5s and the 16th as a par 3 — a strategy narrative for a course that is not this one.

None of that research appears on this page. Section 05 says what was lost with it rather than quietly filling the gap from somewhere else.

On what isn't here. This page makes no claim about the architects, the opening year, ownership, championship history, course records, rankings, green sizes, rating or slope, hole nicknames or prevailing wind. The one research record that covered those was reviewed and rejected — it is built on the excluded tee card and its history section contradicts the established record in several places. Rather than pick the true-looking claims out of it, the page carries none of them. That section can be written the day a verified scorecard and a clean research pass exist.

5.1 — THE HOLE THE CARD IS KNOWN BY

106 yards

The 7th is the shortest hole here from every tee, and it is the only hole on the card under 110 yards from any of them. A wedge, and nothing about the number that helps.

The longest hole is less settled. The 14th is the longest from the Championship and Resort cards, but it sheds 136 yards moving to the Forward tees while the 18th sheds only 74 — so from the Forward the closing hole is the longest on the property.

5.2 — WHERE THE ROUND GETS LONG

In is longer than out, from every tee

3,512 against 3,316 from the Championship, 3,371 against 3,074 from the Resort, 2,762 against 2,487 from the Forward. The back nine is the longer half by roughly 200 to 300 yards no matter which card you are playing, at identical par.

5.3 — WHY THE CHART SELF-CHECKS

The data was wrong once already

One of the four tee sets in this course's record is corrupt and passed the project's validation. The drawing in 04 therefore re-derives every number it prints and refuses to draw at all if the three remaining cards stop agreeing.
